•  The camera will be used in the Vera Rubin Telescope in Chile
  •  Fifty times more powerful than an 64 megapixel mobile camera

  •  Golf ball at a distance of 25 km, the resolution can be seen clearly The first thing that comes to mind when buying a mobile phone is the camera.

  • We know the size of the camera as megapixels. As the megapixel camera is good, so is the common sense. That is why there is a proliferation of mobile phones with cameras ranging from 12 to 64 megapixels in the market.
  • In the midst of this situation, the SLAC Laboratory at Menlo Park, run by Stanford University in the United States, took 3200-megapixel photographs.

  • This is the world's largest digital photo ever taken in a single shot.Various pictures were taken, one of which was of a cauliflower-like vegetable called broccoli. Suppose our mobile has an 64 megapixel camera, then this Stanford camera is fifty times more powerful than that. This camera, however, is to be used for sky photography.
  •  The camera is almost ready. In the coming days it will be fitted at the Vera Rubin Observatory in Chile. Chile's Vera Rubin Telescope, named after female astronomer Vera Rubin, is one of the world's best telescopes.
  • In the language of photography, what is called a field view is so wide that if forty moons are arranged side by side, they can all fit into a single frame.
  • In other words, the resolution is such that if a photo is taken from here, even a small golf ball 25 km away can be clicked into it.
  • Once fitted into the telescope, the camera will continue to take pictures of the night sky for ten consecutive years.
  • This will result in huge photographs that have never been seen before. The basic design of this camera is similar to that of a normal digital camera or mobile camera, but all its equipment is designed keeping in mind its huge size. For months, scientists have been assembling various parts of the camera. However the complete assembly of the camera is not yet complete.
  • The entire factory-like shed for assembling is built on Stanford's campus.
  • The lens for the camera is also the largest optical lens in the world, with a diameter of 5.1 feet. A total of 3 such lenses are to be fitted. Once ready the size of the whole camera will be like a small track.
